Toasted Pixel Presents:
A Look Back, A Look Ahead

It's been an interesting year. Sure, everyone says that every year, but this year we had a serious Batman movie. Enjoy our reflection of the previous year, and our look at things to come.

You've Seen the Future, and It's the Recent Past with Commentary by TV Comedians You've Never Heard of and Punk Band Members

In 2005, the amount of flashback/nostalgia clip show footage finally surpassed the amount of history we have.

On top of that, for every soldier we have fighting in Iraq, we have eighteen documentary filmmakers and photographers covering him. It's a glorious time to be a historian, so long as you enjoy making snide comments and imitating the California Raisins in between clips of '80s commercial footage.

The Greatest Legacy of Star Wars

The biggest scifi/fantasy franchise ever, Star Wars, ended. All the hype, the billions of dollars, the empire of merchandising, looks like it's all over. More importantly, the You're the Man Now, Dog site is more famous than ever now that Episode III is done.

And man, has this site been on fire ever since then. Sure, they have some idiosyncratic, inexplicable pages, but we've also seen the best aspects of the Star Wars world thanks to this site. We're hoping the site will offer us much insight into Superman this year.

All Children's Fantasy Entertainment Is Now Serious Drama For Adults

In the wake of Lord of the Rings, every studio in the world has decided to take fantasy quite seriously, from children's books like Narnia, to comic books like Batman.

Superman Returns is next, and it looks fantastic. The trailer for it looks great, and we suggest you watch it immediately if you haven't already.

The next great children's-franchise-turned-mainstream-action entertainment should appeal to more than just comic book or Christian fans.

Santa's Russian, did you know? He's sort of like the benevolent North Pole-dwelling Superman that happens to believe in scorched earth tactics when invaded by Napoleon.

Finally, we only have two seasons left. Winter and summer. Ah well. The others were nice while they lasted.

We look forward to The Snow That Burns in the single season that's soon to come.
