Toasted Pixel Presents:
A Brief Analysis of Rambo

You're probably all aware of the new Rambo film slated for January 2008. So, I decided to go back and review the older movies to remind myself who this 61-year-old man is. It turns out the show is a lot more ambiguous than I remember. Not that anyone's goals in the film aren't clear, but it's just that I didn't remember these love scenes being the way they were.

Rambo had a lot of challenges in these movies, although perhaps his greatest enemy was English. A game I tried to play was to watch clips of the Rambo films and see how much of it I could understand. The other odd Rambo phenomenon was how Rambo developed over time. He started as a post traumatic stress disorderd man who periodically had flashback episodes and whose signature is a giant Bowie knife that he eviscerates people with. And then suddenly for a period of time in the '80s he was this:

He was a scholar and a gentleman teaching people about classical pottery in Rambo: Force of Freedom. But no matter how much his changes may have been baffling, I had to admit that many of them were AMAZING. In Rambo II, Sylvester Stallone's character actually MORPHS INTO THE EARTH ITSELF to fight his adversaries.

I can't wait to see the fourth Rambo film. Speculate why on your own.
