We'll be jumping back and forth in Simon's history. This week, the college years.
Every culture has one food that the rest of the world thinks is the most disgusting
idea ever. For France, it's escargot (snail). For Australia, it's vegemite (yeast to spread on bread).
For America, it's peanut butter (believe it or not). For England, it's British food.
For Korea, you'd THINK it'd be dog, but if you had a steaming plate of Frasier's puppies
in front of you, not even that would elicit the violent screaming fits that have been
known to occur in non-Koreans when they come within three rooms of kimchee.
If you want your relationship with your non-Korean roommates to turn south instantly,
buy kimchee. Take it from us. We guarantee it.
And finally, the biggest proof that cigarettes are addictive are poor college students.
They're hungry, they openly say how much they can't stand cigarettes, and
if you give them a food stamp, they'll trade it for strawberry-flavored menthol
lights laced with catnip if that's all that's available.
