Tragic and world-changing, it was also an odd thing, 9/11, with
thousands upon thousands of geeks across the country simultaneously facing their own
physical and corporate mortality. Everyone then tried to change their lives, for
better or for worse, so long as something relevant happened before they died.
Some, like our hero, first tried to excel in their current fields of employment.

Reality soon sunk in one way or the other.

But then, most simply looked for a new day job.

But by that time, job listings had changed since the last time
techies had to look in the classifieds.
