My biggest problem with anything Stargate is how lame the enemies are. The villains in Stargate SG-1 are about 100 years behind us in military technology. Well, perhaps not that far behind; they did recently invent fully automatic weapons finally.
And now, enjoy the Huge-Humorless-Black-Man-in-Scifi Madlib (most of the following paragraph comes directly from Scifi.com's description of the character Joshua, a certain muscular minority on the show First Wave) :
__Joshua/Worf/Tealc/Tyr__, a member of the elite "__acolyte/warrior/Jafaa/Nietzschian__" class, is a disgruntled alien.
On his homeworld, he is known as one of their finest warriors and a true patriot. But during the time that he's interacted with humans, his doubts about the aliens' mission has grown.
__Joshua/Worf/Tealc/Tyr__ is loyal to his species; however, he is secretly fearful of defeat at the hands of the humans.
He has a certain respect for the human race, much of it stemming from his knowledge of __Subject 117/Captain Picard/Captain Hercules/MacGuyver/random skinny white guy__.
He knows that if one out of every 117 humans is like __Foster/Picard/Kull the Conqueror/guy with chronic eyebrow arch__, the aliens might have a serious fight on their hands.
